19^th THE OXFORD & CAMBRIDGE SOCIETY MALAYSIA : ENGLISH LANGUAGE EVENT 2021

Greetings from Sunway College!

We are pleased to announce the return of the abovementioned event. This event is part of our prestigious annual English Language Event which is jointly organised by Sunway College and The Oxford & Cambridge Society Malaysia with the aim of encouraging the use of English Language among Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5/ Junior Middle 3, Senior Middle 1 and Senior Middle 2 students as a medium of communication amongst students.

The event will be held for two (2) sessions and will be carried out virtually, kindly refer to details below:

1. Session 1: Public Speaking eWorkshop

Date: 10 April, 2021 (Saturday)

Time: 1000am – 1145am

Online Platform: Microsoft Teams Meeting

Registration link: bit.ly/ELE2021 (do register latest by 25 March 2021, 4pm)

During this eWorkshop, we will start off with a 30-mins talk titled “Integrating non-verbals, Visuals and Intonation in the Game of Screens”.

For the next 30-mins, you will have a chance to demonstrate your Public Speaking skills in different breakout rooms. Each volunteer will demonstrate a 3-mins prepared speech on the topic "Health: Reflections on Self, Community and Needed Change". Demonstration is open to a handful of students and you will need to pre-register if you would like to use this opportunity to practice your skills with feedback given by facilitators. Other students who do not wish to volunteer will have the opportunity to enhance as well as develop their public speaking skills and techniques during this session as well.

2. Session 2: English Language Event eTalks

Date: 3 July, 2021 (Saturday)

Time: 1000am – 12.30pm

Distinguished speakers from The Oxford & Cambridge Society Malaysia will be sharing their thoughts on “Effective Oral Communication Skills” and “Effective Writing Skills”. Each talk will have a talk session for 40-mins, followed by 20-mins Q&A session on how to communicate effectively in both writing and communication skills.

All registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. Spaces are limited!
